Edit: I scanned the above image in, which I feel better shows the beads. It should be noted that the crimson spacers are a much, much more vibrant red than how it came out in the photos.
The picture did not come out as well as I would like (I had to take it on my cell phone. I mislaid the cord that allows me to transfer images from my camera to the computer) but these are gorgeous prayer beads dedicated to the ancestors.
Every aspect of these prayer beads was carefully designed to help the user better connect to the ancestors: there are three large skull beads (one for maternal line, one for paternal, and one for ancestors unrelated by blood), then nine sets of nine picture-jasper beads (chosen because they look like bone). Each set of nine is separated by a smaller skull bead. The skull beads are bone (ox or camel respectively) and there are blood red spacers of faceted glass, representing the continuity of ancestors connecting generation to generation.
I am selling these (I'm sorely tempted to keep them, but really, I have enough sets of prayer beads!) for $40 plus $5 shipping and handling.
