About Me

Galina Krasskova is a free range tribalist Heathen who has been a priest of Odin and Loki for close to twenty years. Originally ordained in the Fellowship of Isis in 1995, Ms. Krasskova also attended the oldest interfaith seminary in the U.S. - the New Seminary where she was ordained in 2000. She continues as a guest lecturer and mentor at the New Seminary, and is part of a team of ministers for the Interfaith Fellowship in NYC. She is the founder of Urdabrunnr Kindred (NY), a member of Ironwood Kindred (MA), Asatru in Frankfurt (Frankfurt am Main, Germany), the First Kingdom Church of Asphodel (MA), the American Academy of Religion, and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. She has been a state contracted expert on the Asatru faith, and is currently involved in prison ministry. Additionally, she took vows as a Heathen gythia in 1996 and again in 2004.

Ms. Krasskova holds diplomas from The New Seminary (2000), a B.A. in Religious Studies from Empire State College (2007), and an M.A. in Religious Studies from New York University (2009). She’s presented at prestigious academic conferences including those held at Harvard, Santa Barbara University, and Ohio State University.
Her Master’s thesis, titled “Race, Gender, and the Problem of ‘Ergi’ in Modern Heathenry” explored concepts of gender roles within contemporary Heathen ritual structure and their impact on contemporary ideological fault lines. She is currently pursuing a second Masters degree prior to taking a PhD in Classics.

An experienced diviner, ordeal master, and conjure woman, her primary interest is in devotional work and the reconstruction of Northern Tradition shamanism. Her book The Whisperings of Woden was the landmark first devotional text to be written in modern Heathenry.  In addition to her own books, she’s also contributed extensively to Raven Kaldera’s shamanism series.

Ms. Krasskova currently writes as a columnist for BBI Media’s Witches and Pagans Magazine, and she has a variety of published books available running the gamut from introductory texts on the Northern Tradition, runes, prayer, and devotional practices, with more books on the way.

Ms. Krasskova currently works as a Dean for second year students at The New Seminary in New York, the oldest interfaith seminary in the US. She also teaches at the College of Brigantia, a Pagan adult-education program and part of the First Kingdom Church of Asphodel. She heads up three departments there. She also occasionally lectures around the country on topics of interest to contemporary Heathenry and Paganism. For more information, please contact her directly at krasskova at gmail.com.

ERRATA
On page 97-99 of “Northern Tradition for the Solitary Practitioner,” there is a prayer for parents of which a line in the refrain reads:
“My lover outruns my anger.”
It should read: “My love outruns my anger.”
I’m told this will be corrected in future printings.

'There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.' --Rumi
