House Sankofa celebrated its Ostara/Eostre ritual today with a rite to Mani, Sunna, and of course, Eostre. It was a lovely rite and we even had a couple of guests, which was nice, but I'm afraid I completely forgot to take any photos of the altar afterwards. I'm a bit bummed about this, because we had a really pretty altar, but that forgetfulness is due to the workshop that we had following ritual. All of us got so caught up that taking photos was the farther thing from our minds!
After the ritual, i gave a craft workshop on making devotional books. A few months back as an anniversary gift to my partner, i made a devotional to Dionysos (to Whom he is dedicated), using cardboard and collage, painting, and various decorations to craft a one of a kind gift. Several members of the House were quite taken with it, so I offered to give a workshop and they jumped at it. The books really aren't that difficult to make, but they do take time and a few basic supplies. I gave everyone a list of what they needed and today after the ritual we held the workshop.
Each person began a devotional to their individual Gods and Goddesses. (We didn't finish today, as the actual design, decorating, and painting of the pages can take awhile, but we all worked hard and they got a good start. We're going to finish up after the next ritual). My own Mani devotional was small, so I was able to finish and I though I would share the results here. These make lovely offerings, and the entire creation is an act of devotion.
